Investment Powerhouse Unveils Nine-Figure Venture to Harness Ethereum's Decentralized Finance Capabilities

In a landmark partnership, Galaxy Digital, the renowned digital asset firm founded by Mike Novogratz, has joined forces with Sharplink, a leading $ETH treasury company, to establish the Galaxy Sharplink Onchain Yield Fund. This innovative private investment vehicle is poised to capitalize on the burgeoning DeFi landscape, focusing on liquidity protocols and other on-chain yield-generating strategies that are redefining the financial landscape.

With a projected launch in the coming weeks, the fund is expected to boast an impressive $125 million in total commitments, comprising $100 million from Sharplink's staked Ethereum treasury and a $25 million injection from Galaxy. As the fund's investment manager, Galaxy will leverage its expertise to identify high-yield opportunities across blockchain-based financial markets, allocating capital to select on-chain applications that demonstrate significant potential.

This strategic collaboration is designed to enable Sharplink to maintain its substantial Ethereum exposure while generating returns from actively managed on-chain strategies. Galaxy's institutional research and risk management framework, which has been successfully deployed across its lending, trading, and asset management operations, will oversee protocol selection, exposure sizing, and ongoing monitoring. Notably, Galaxy has been actively allocating hundreds of millions of dollars to on-chain strategies since 2020, cementing its position as a pioneer in decentralized finance and blockchain-based investment opportunities.

According to Novogratz, "The influx of institutional capital into the on-chain ecosystem is a testament to the maturation of the infrastructure, which now offers allocators the same level of rigor and sophistication as traditional markets. Our partnership with Sharplink, which boasts one of the most significant Ethereum treasuries among public companies, is a strategic move to unlock the potential of their capital through a tailored strategy that amplifies their core position."

Matthew Sheffield, Sharplink's Chief Investment Officer, views this partnership as a natural extension of the company's treasury strategy, which has yielded impressive results. As the second-largest Ethereum treasury company, Sharplink holds approximately 868,700 $ETH, surpassed only by Bitmine's substantial holdings of around 5.21 million $ETH. The company's recent financial report revealed a remarkable surge in revenue, reaching $12.1 million in Q1 2026, up from a modest $0.7 million in the same period last year, primarily driven by its Ethereum treasury strategy.

However, Sharplink also reported a significant net loss of $685.6 million, largely attributed to unrealized accounting losses and impairment charges resulting from declining $ETH prices. The company emphasized that these losses were purely paper-based, incurred under accounting rules, and did not reflect an actual sale of $ETH at a loss or a reduction in its Ethereum holdings. As the crypto landscape continues to evolve, this partnership between Galaxy and Sharplink is poised to redefine the boundaries of on-chain investment strategies and yield generation.
