ARK Invest has acquired nearly 3.3 million SpaceX shares, creating a position valued at more than $500 million after the company’s record‑setting IPO.
SpaceX IPO Participation
The shares were offered at $135 each and closed the first trading day at $160.95, delivering a 19.2 percent gain. ARK’s Innovation ETF (ARKK) accounted for most of the purchase, pushing SpaceX to represent 3.28 percent of the fund’s holdings. This move highlights investors’ appetite for high‑beta growth assets.
ARK Invest Portfolio Adjustments
In the week preceding the listing, ARK sold roughly $280 million of equity across its portfolio. On the IPO day, the firm off‑loaded an additional 948,000 shares in 13 companies, generating at least $48 million from sales of stocks such as Advanced Micro Devices, Roku and Baidu. The rapid reallocation underscores a strategic shift away from earlier crypto and blockchain exposures.
