Ethereum developers have entered the final development phase of the Glamsterdam upgrade, launching devnets that incorporate every scheduled Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) before transitioning to public testnets.
Development Milestones
The team operates dedicated developer networks, known as devnets, to validate the full suite of EIPs slated for Glamsterdam. Parithosh Jayanthi, a core developer and devops engineer at the Ethereum Foundation, confirmed that the codebase now contains all required protocol changes.
Jayanthi explained that the current effort focuses on hardening the software and preparing it for broader testing. “We’re working on devnets with all the EIPs in them right now,” he said, emphasizing that the phase precedes the release of testnets.
Although the Ethereum community has not set a precise activation date, the upgrade is projected to launch in the second half of the year, positioning it as one of the most extensive changes since the network’s shift to proof‑of‑stake in 2022.
Market Implications
Investors monitor the Glamsterdam rollout closely, as the upgrade could reshape Ethereum’s blockchain performance and influence crypto market dynamics. Analysts anticipate that successful implementation may bolster confidence in Ethereum’s scalability roadmap.
Should Glamsterdam meet expectations, the upgrade may drive renewed interest from institutional players and reinforce Ethereum’s role as a leading platform for decentralized finance and smart‑contract applications.
