Strategy CEO Speaks Out for the First Time Following Saylor’s “We Could Sell Bitcoin” Comments

Strategy CEO Phong Le made a noteworthy assessment in the market following statements by the company’s founder, Michael Saylor, regarding a possible Bitcoin sale. Saylor reminded that Strategy had previously stated it could sell $BTC if necessary, yet this did not result in a significant drop in the Bitcoin price.

Saylor had stated that the company might occasionally sell Bitcoin to meet its corporate finance needs, such as dividend payments. However, it is noteworthy that there was no significant selling pressure in the market following these statements.

In his assessment of the situation, Phong Le stated, “The Bitcoin market didn’t care about this statement.” The statement was interpreted as indicating that investors maintained confidence in Strategy’s long-term $BTC strategy and that the potential for a sell-off was not perceived as a systemic risk in the market.

Strategy announced that as of the first quarter of 2026, it held 818,334 Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The company also stated that it had achieved a 9.4% return on $BTC since the beginning of the year and had raised $11.6 billion in funding so far in 2026. The price of $BTC is currently trading at $81,437, having gained 7% in the last 7 days.
